Energy Transfer Must Face Pension Funds’ Pipeline Bribery Suit


Energy Transfer LP and billionaire CEO Kelcy Warren lost their bid Tuesday to escape securities litigation brought in a Philadelphia federal court by pension funds claiming the gas giant hid a bribery scheme it used to facilitate pipeline construction across Pennsylvania’s shale fields.

Judge Gerald A. McHugh let the lawsuit proceed with allegations that Energy Transfer and its leaders misled investors about the timeline for finishing the Mariner East 2 pipeline, its capacity, its environmental and safety record, and the “buy a badge” conspiracy that led to several arrests.
