Fire and gas leaks trigger evacuations in San Francisco

The SF Fire Department reported a gas leak and fire on the 1000 block of Fulton between Pierce and Steiner on Nov. 12, 2020.

LATEST Nov. 12, 4 p.m. The San Francisco Fire Department reported after 3:30 p.m. that PG&E was working to shut off the gas to extinguish the fire. One injury has been reported. No structures are impacted. The 1000 block of Fulton remains evacuated.

Nov. 12, 3:36 p.m. A gas leak and fire near San Francisco’s Alamo Square Park have triggered evacuations Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported in the 1000 block of Fulton Street between Pierce and Steiner.

The Archbishop’s Mansion is on this block, and the iconic row of Victorians known as the Painted Ladies is around the corner.

The San Francisco Fire Department asked the public to avoid the area. The incident has caused traffic to back up in the Western Addition neighborhood.

The fire department, San Francisco Police Department and PG&E are on the scene investigating the incident.
