US Says States, Industry Can’t Stop Oil And Gas Lease Pause

Law360 (June 8, 2021, 6:38 PM EDT) — The federal government on Monday asked federal courts in Louisiana and Wyoming to reject efforts to sink the Biden administration’s decision to cancel oil and gas lease sales for the first and second quarters of 2021.The Bureau of Land Management said its oil and gas order is protected against legal review because President Joe Biden was acting within his authority when he issued an executive order directing the agency to take such an action “to the extent consistent with applicable law.”
