Residents told to shelter in place after gas line hit in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — Residents in a Salt Lake City neighborhood are being told to shelter in place after workers hit a gas line Monday.

The Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities says contractors hit an unmarked natural gas line in the area of 4th Avenue and Canyon Road.

Officials have closed off the area to traffic and residents are ordered to stay where they are.
