Petroleum sheen found near Buck Creek in Pelham/Helena area

A petroleum sheen was discovered near Buck Creek in Shelby County today.According to a news release, fire department officials notified Products (SE) Pipe Line Corporation of the petroleum sheen near the city of Helena.As a precaution, the company shut down its nearby pipeline locations and sent a spill response team to begin cleanup activities.The Pelham Fire Department reported their firefighters and Haz Mat team responded and placed absorbent booms around the sheen for containment.The Pelham Fire Department had responded to reports of a strong smell of gasoline.It’s unclear at this time where the sheen came from.No injuries were reported.
