June 10 (Renewables Now) – EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK) has signed 10-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 150 MW of solar power capacity that will be online next year in Andalusia, Spain.
The German electric utility and Hamburg-based wind and solar plants operator Blue Elephant Energy AG (BEE) announced the signing of the contracts on Thursday, noting that they have agreed not to share details about the price.
BEE’s projects, three of 50 MW each, are under construction, with grid-connection planned for the second quarter of 2022. Once up and running, the photovoltaic (PV) parks will be producing roughly 315 GWh annually.
“With our long-standing experience on both the generating and trading side, we see good marketing opportunities in the Spanish wholesale market as well as for customer-specific solutions,” commented Peter Heydecker, the person in charge of EnBW’s trading division. The unit connects developers and operators of renewable power plants with the market.
BEE has 1.1 GW of renewable energy capacity in operation and under construction.
